You hand over a little more every year. A street to cross, a friend's house, a bike and an hour. Each time, you know a little less about their day, and a device is the biggest handover yet.
There are hours in every day when nobody is looking. After school, in the car, late at night. Taking the device away is the usual answer, but it is not always possible, and there is always a next thing to decide about: social media, group chats, AI. Deciding each one with no idea how your kid actually uses any of it is a coin flip.
Pedium gives you the ground to stand on, so you are not caught off guard and the conversation happens before it is a crisis.
What you get
Pedium watches the device, not the child. At the end of the day, or the week, you get a few sentences about what the device was actually used for. It is not a log or a transcript, and you can read it in a minute.
“What's Blooket?”
Two hours in a game you have never heard of. Not a problem, and now it is something you can ask about at dinner, where they get to be the expert.
“You seem wiped out this week.”
Screen time creeping past bedtime, three nights running. It is easier to talk about a pattern than to argue about tonight.

Something looked unsuitable, so we tell you. The answer could be a conversation rather than a punishment.
How it works

Your kid watches you choose. Nothing is installed behind their back, and introducing it as something they are old enough for works better than introducing it as a punishment.

Apps and screen time, sites visited, location. You decide what is on, and you can change it at any time.

A summary at the end of the day, or the end of the week. Most of it is ordinary, and now and then one line is the start of a conversation you would otherwise have missed.

Each child device lists everything being collected, including any site you have blocked, with your name and your reason.
How we are different
Bark, Qustodio, Life360 and the rest are built to read your kid's messages, score their behavior and lock their device from across town. Some families want exactly that. But that is not us.
We are not a gentler version of the same product. If you want to be authoritarian, do not use us.
We will never
The one thing we do control
You can block specific sites. The list starts empty and only ever contains sites you typed yourself. Our safety system is never allowed to add one, because it has been wrong before and a machine should not get to make that call silently.
Every block is visible to your child, with your name on it and the reason you gave. They can tell you it is wrong, in their own words, and that message comes straight to you.
We are not here to create a divide.
Close, not watching. Visibility, not surveillance.
Personal details are stripped out of activity before it is stored. Raw activity is deleted within 24 hours, the record of which sites were visited lasts 7 days, and the plain-language summaries go after 30. What is left is a few sentences about a device.
